Fiona Daly is a contemporary textile designer and handweaver based in London. Her lovely products are so reminiscent of the wools and tweeds of the Hebrides, that I wasn’t at all surprised when she told me that her work is very much influenced by the time she spent in the Shetlands. Fiona is helping to preserve traditional weaving skills which are in danger of dying out.
Her work is inspired by patterns found in traditional Shetland textiles, a love of wool and sustainability, a fascination with exploring weave structures and the story of different sheep breeds.
If you’re planning to create a Hygge kind of ambience this Christmas, Fiona’s scarves, cushions and blankets are a great start !
